Kimberly Baker joined the Eastern Carolina Council of Governments in April 2021, as an Aging Programs Consultant. She brings a strong work ethic and a background that includes many years of public service knowledge, government contracts, purchasing, auditing, and accounting to this agency.
Prior to joining Eastern Carolina Council, Kimberly was employed at MCAS Cherry Point as Production Control for a government contractor in support of Commander, Fleet Readiness Center. In this position, she maintained work scheduling and production data, records, reports, and databases for aviation support equipment.
She worked for several years at the Craven County Department of Social Services as an Accountant Technician III. In this position, she enjoyed working closely with the Child Services social workers on the foster care and adoption programs. She facilitated monthly payments, placed orders, monitored the budget, helped to update the state database for the foster care and adoption clients. She also worked closely on the county budgeting and accounting for the services provided by Craven County’s Adult Services and Senior Centers.
While attending college in Florida, Kimberly was employed with the Florida Department of Revenue as a Revenue Specialist. At the Department of Revenue, she gained considerable knowledge of state and federal statutes and tax laws, client confidentiality, corporate income taxes, sales tax, re-employment, and various other taxes through courses and on-the-job training.
Prior to living in Florida, Kimberly worked nearly 14 years for a Department of Defense contractor, Raytheon. At this company, she started as a Buyer in government purchasing, was promoted to a Procurement Analyst, and worked her way up to Finance Team Leader. At Raytheon, she gained significant knowledge and skills in understanding and following government contracts, policies, and regulations.
