David Bone joined the Eastern Carolina Council as Executive Director in May of 2022. David brought almost twenty (20) years of experience in local government management, having served as both a County Manager and Town Manager in various communities in NC. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master of Public Administration degree from NC Central University. David earned his “Certified Manager” certification from the International City/County Managers Association in 2008 and received recognition for his service on two occasions as City/County Manager of the Year from two different Councils of Government. He currently serves on the NC 911 Board and previously served on the boards of the Martin County Regional Water and Sewer Authority the Highway 17/64 Association. David has a passion for helping to build and support collaborative partnerships between local governments and other stakeholders. As Executive Director, David leads the staff and in supporting local governments and serving the communities of the nine-county region.
