A graduate of NC State University, Tim served as Fiscal Director and Assistant Director of the Mid-East Commission, headquartered in Washington, NC, beginning in 1994, and was named Executive Director in 2002. After 10 years at Mid-East, he moved to Fredericksburg, VA, assuming the post of Executive Director of the George Washington Regional Commission, serving for 5 years. In 2018, he returned to North Carolina as Executive Director of the NC Association of Regional Councils – which supports the work of all 16 Councils of Government in the state. He recently retired from that position. Throughout his career, Tim held leadership positions in the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions, he served as President of the NADO – National Association of Development Organizations – in 2011, and he was active with SERDI – Southeastern Regional Director’s Institute.
Tim brings a wealth of experience to the ECC. He knows what a COG is, what is supposed to do, and how it should function in service to its member governments. The organizations which Tim led offered all the services vital to a successful COG – Aging, Economic Development, Transportation Planning, Grant Administration, and Workforce Development. His peers in the industry enthusiastically recommended him as an individual who can help guide the ECC through its transition as well as charting the way forward, helping the ECC to determine is mission and purpose as it seeks permanent leadership.
